Blur & Unblur AI

Free online face blur and unblur tool with local browser pro

Visit

Blur & Unblur AI is a free private image editor built for fast face privacy workflows. Upload a photo locally in your browser, detect faces automatically, remove false detections, draw manual lasso masks when needed, blur selected faces, unblur selected face regions, or blur the entire image. The editor runs with browser Canvas and client-side JavaScript, so your source photo is not sent to an upload or processing server. When the result looks right, export a clean PNG without guide boxes or editor overlays.

Features

Automatic Face Detection -> Detect faces in the browser and create editable masks for face-only blur or unblur.

Manual Lasso Selection -> Draw custom masks around missed faces or irregular regions when automatic detection needs correction.

Face-Only Blur -> Blur selected faces while keeping the rest of the photo clear and readable.

Face Unblur Mode -> Apply face-only clarity adjustments to selected face regions without processing the entire image.

Full Photo Blur -> Blur the whole image when you need broader privacy or background obscuring.

Remove False Detections -> Delete extra face boxes and keep only the regions you actually want to edit.

Adjustable Strength -> Change blur or enhancement intensity with a live slider preview.

Private Local Processing -> Source images are edited in the browser with no upload endpoint.

Clean PNG Export -> Download the final image without selection boxes, lasso guides, or editor frames.

I built Blur & Unblur AI because face privacy tools should be simple, fast, and private by default. Most people do not need a heavy photo editor just to hide a face before sharing a screenshot, group photo, event image, or public post.

The privacy-first angle here is genuinely compelling. Most people need to blur faces in photos before sharing but uploading to cloud services creates hesitation about data handling. Blur & Unblur AI removes that friction entirely by running everything locally in the browser - your photos never leave your machine. Being able to upload anything sensitive, blur exactly what you need, and export clean images without any privacy concerns transforms the entire workflow. The face detection automation plus manual lasso selection means you get precision without the learning curve. For professionals handling sensitive imagery or anyone cautious about privacy, this becomes the obvious choice.

The all-browser, no-upload-endpoint approach is the right call for something this sensitive — for faces specifically, 'we delete it after processing' is a much weaker privacy story than 'it never left your device.' Curious how the automatic detection holds up on busy group shots where faces overlap or are partially occluded — that's usually where the manual lasso fallback becomes essential rather than a nice-to-have.

Blur & Unblur AI has great potential and offers some useful features, but I encountered a few issues that could be improved. Please contact me so I can share detailed feedback and suggest the changes I'd like to see. Email: [email protected]

The photo privacy friction here is genuinely compelling. Most people need to share family photos or group pictures, but they worry about unintended people being identified - especially for family safety and privacy. The traditional path means hunting through Lightroom or Photoshop, learning layer masks, all to blur out strangers or unwanted faces. Blur & Unblur AI removes that friction entirely by making face detection and selective blurring instant in the browser. Being able to upload any photo, instantly detect faces, blur only who you want, and keep the rest clear transforms what was a 10-minute Photoshop task into a 30-second operation. The fact that it runs locally in the browser means your photos never touch a server - for privacy-conscious families sharing memories online, that peace of mind is what changes everything from risky to responsible sharing.

Looks fun. Doing this in-browser rather than server-side is the whole product for the people who need it most (ID documents, medical, kids' faces). Nice one.
