Who Owes What: scan a receipt, assign line items, share who owes what. Saved splits stay on your device—no account. Receipt images are only sent to third parties to analyze the bill (e.g. extract line items), not to host your history. Installable PWA on iOS & Android. Receipt-first & local-first—for fast fair splits, not cloud group ledgers.

great one mate, well done

local-first is the smart call here. half the receipt-splitter apps die because nobody wants to upload pics of their dinners to some random cloud. on the pricing question: i'd struggle with monthly for something i use 2-3x a month max. one-time unlock for pro features (5-10) feels closer to how the use case actually behaves. probably the only model that doesn't feel weird.

Really neat concept! The receipt-first approach makes a lot of sense — scanning and assigning line items is way more transparent than just splitting evenly. I also appreciate that it's local-first with no account required; privacy-conscious users will love that. The PWA angle is smart too since it works across iOS and Android without app store friction. Would be great to see support for recurring group expenses down the road. Nice work!

How splits are handled ?

Hi Fazier 👋 I’m excited to introduce Who Owes What! Tired of group ledgers, manual totals, or “I’ll Venmo you later” after a meal? Who Owes What is receipt-first: scan the bill, assign line items to people, and share a clear per-person summary—so everyone sees why the split is fair. Your saved splits stay on your device; no account. Receipt images are only sent to third parties to analyze the receipt (e.g. extract items), not to host your bill history. It works as an installable PWA on iOS & Android. For now it’s free to try (I want real usage and honest feedback while things stabilize). When you scan, a referral code is already applied automatically so you don’t have to hunt for one in the flow. Examples of when it shines: “We went out with six people and everyone ordered different things.” “We need to split a long itemized receipt without arguing at the table.” “I want a shareable summary I can drop in WhatsApp in one tap.” It’s built for clarity at the table—fast, fair, and local-first—not another app you have to “manage” forever. This started as a focused side project. I’d love your feedback on the product and on pricing: if this saved you real time or awkwardness, what would you realistically pay per receipt (or per month)? (Ballpark is totally fine—helps me understand what’s fair.) Please try it and tell me what broke, what felt confusing, or the one feature you’d want next. Thanks for reading—and for any comments or upvotes 🙏

"Split the check, skip the math" is exactly the right positioning — simple problem, simple solution. Does it handle unequal splits or is it always divided equally?

I've used Who Owes What for group dinners and trips, and it makes splitting expenses quick, simple, and hassle-free.
