Utilly Bank Reconciliation Checker

Find why your bank statement and books don't match

Visit

Upload a bank statement (PDF, CSV, Excel or OFX) and an export from your books (a QuickBooks or Xero report, or any ledger CSV/Excel). Utilly matches transactions by amount, date and check number. Checks can clear weeks later, so they're matched by number. It then lists:

  • what's on the statement but not in the books
  • what's in the books but not on the statement
  • amounts that differ, including transposed digits
  • reversed signs
  • possible duplicates
  • entries outside the statement period

A summary line shows that these items add up to the difference. The summary and the first items of each type are free with no sign-up. The full list plus a PDF and CSV report costs 1 credit. Files are processed in memory and deleted within an hour.

Comments

Hi! When a reconciliation won't tie out, the fix is usually a handful of transactions: one missing, one entered twice, one with the sign flipped. Finding them by eye is the slow part. This takes your statement and a books export, matches everything it can (checks by number, since they clear late), and lists the leftovers by type with a line showing they add up to the difference. Sample files are on the page. I'd love to hear about any ledger export format it doesn't read.
