you are not tired of dating, you are tired of being watched while you do it. unmasque is the dating app where one real connection replaces fifteen shallow ones. blurred until it is mutual, then a private space for your love story. you are the customer here, not the product.

hey fazier. i'm building unmasque from the middle, not the finish line. in the open, in real time. it's not finished, and that's exactly why you're seeing it now. before it was a company, it was personal. i was the first user. this is my attempt of curating a romantic space that holds your love story. i'm an engineer, and i kept running into the same math: every dating app gives you fifteen conversations, all at depth one. nobody at depth five. so i'm building the other one. the dating app that starts blurred and ends in chapters. the mechanic is called unmasquing. profiles start blurred. all of it. you get one connection at a time, in a room with no audience. a 48-hour blind clock runs while you talk to a person instead of a profile. only then do faces unmasque, and only if it's mutual. then the second clock: 48 hours to propose a real date, right inside the app. you suggest the plan. they accept or counter. no "we should hang out sometime" limbo. and it starts before you ever match. onboarding is a guided conversation, not a form. the app learns how you love before it introduces you to anyone. and i'll say this plainly: unmasque will have a price. there are three ways a product like this pays for itself and i've ruled out two. no ads, because every design decision would start serving time-on-app. no selling relationship data, because that's inauthentic in a way i couldn't undo. so the people using it pay for it, but i haven't figured out exactly when or exactly how much. if you're paying, you're the customer. if someone else is paying, you're the product. a business model is a design decision. maybe the biggest one. and here's the part that costs me: once a connection becomes a relationship, i stop earning from you. if this works, my business gets smaller. on purpose. the piece i most want this community's fingerprints on is the post-date love story archive. after a date, both of you write the night down together. first impressions, the details you'd forget by morning. a shared chapter that belongs to the two people living it. two memories, one beginning. this is the first step toward a digital diary of your love story. not a highlight reel. the real thing, written by the two people living it as it happens. not everything needs to become content. some moments deserve to remain yours. so my question: what would make a joint archive feel sacred instead of gimmicky? which milestones deserve a permanent page? tell me below. i'm building this live, and feedback here goes straight into the build. 🔥
