Hey 👋 I built SafeShelf because I was tired of squinting at ingredient labels in grocery stores, trying to figure out if something was actually safe for my family. Every product has 20+ ingredients I can't pronounce, and Google searches just led me down rabbit holes of conflicting information. SafeShelf started as a simple idea: what if AI could analyze product ingredients and give me a straight answer about safety? But as I developed it, I discovered something fascinating – what I call the "Peanut Butter Paradox." Early versions would flag peanut butter as dangerous because it contains peanuts. Obviously true for people with allergies, but not for everyone else! This led me to completely redesign how the AI analyzes products: separating allergen warnings (important for specific individuals) from universal toxicity concerns (important for everyone). The result is much more accurate and useful. I would love your feedback on: - What products are you most concerned about? - What other features would make this more useful? - Any analysis that seems off? Thanks for checking it out! Feel free to try it with any product photo and let me know what you think. 🙏
