Patent Trail

Never Get Blindsided by Patents Again

Visit

A patent tracking and alerts product that’s less of a “patent search engine” and more of a monitoring + notification + digest system. Existing tools are research-heavy and painful. Patent Trail is meant to help non-experts keep up with competitors and industries without drowning in patent language.

Features

  1. Create watchlists by tracking specific companies, industry keywords or “entities”.
  2. Get updates on newly filed patents, newly granted patents, expiring patents, “events” on tracked patents.
  3. Explain the patent better feature, AI explanations / summaries to make patents readable.
  4. Weekly brief / digest concept: “what’s happening” recap.

Use Cases

  1. Competitor Monitoring - You don’t know when a competitor files something new until it’s too late.

So you can add competitor company to a watchlist, get alerted when they file new patents, see AI summary instantly and track trends over time. This is useful for startups, product teams, indie founders building in competitive spaces. Value is no surprises and no reactive strategy.

I built Patent Trail after getting frustrated with how outdated and expensive patent tools are. Most platforms felt like they were designed for corporate legal teams, not indie builders trying to keep an eye on competitors or protect their ideas. Our first version honestly struggled (slow loads, freezes, bad architecture decisions), so we rebuilt it from scratch and focused on one thing: simple, reliable patent tracking with alerts and AI summaries. I’d genuinely love feedback especially from anyone who tracks competitors or has dealt with patent monitoring before.
