Notably News is a short-form news service that delivers micro updates by email. Instead of daily noise, you get just a few key updates per year on a subject, covering only the most important events.
There are plenty of places on the web to follow topics or get news alerts, but we think they all have the same problem: if you follow a lot, it's easy to drown in noisy feeds.
With Notably News, we want to give you just the most important updates on the topics that interest you -- so you can avoid being overwhelmed but still not miss out.
We're starting with famous people, but expanding to other types of topics soon.
This is a great idea!
I’ve been working on Notably News – a short-form news service that delivers micro updates by email. Instead of daily noise, you get just a few key updates per year on a subject, covering only the most important events. Why I Built This I have a lot of interests and want to stay informed about them, but I don’t want to rely on social media, Google Alerts, or traditional news sites that flood me with a barrage of updates, clickbait, or opinions. (I can get those from Reddit!) I actually tried to build something similar ten years ago, leaning on my (very minimal!) academic experience in text summarization. But at the time, I just couldn’t get it to work at all well. Now, modern LLMs have unlocked a lot of new possibilities, making this project finally feasible. What Should We Cover Next? I'm just tracking famous people for now. When I tried this in 2014 I attempted to cover everything all at once (which was... a mistake). So what do you think I should include next this time?
