The split between a portable global config and a local one is a small detail but it's the kind of thing that shows real thought went into this — most players make you redo your setup every time you move machines. Also glad to see mpd client mode alongside the standalone player; not many folder-based players bother supporting both. Does the tag editor batch-edit across a whole folder, or is it one file at a time?
The folder-first model makes a lot of sense for compilations and collections whose directory structure is more reliable than their tags. For a very large library, does mpz watch folders and update incrementally when files are added or renamed, or does the user trigger a rescan—and can existing playlist entries survive those renames?
CUE sheet support with seamless playback of single-file albums is the detail that stands out here — most modern players quietly dropped it, and it is the reason a lot of people still keep foobar2000 around on Windows. Combining that with mpd client mode is an unusual pairing; are those two separate playback paths internally, or does the mpd mode reuse the same engine?
