MapNews is a map-based social app for your neighborhood. Instead of a follow feed, you open a map and see what neighbors are posting right around you —local news, hidden spots, events, and everyday street photos. In its "Today's Neighborhood" mode, you snap one photo of your block and it drops on the map at your location — and over months and years, those daily pins become a living, photographic history of a place, weather and all.
Built entirely by a solo developer, MapNews turns anyone into a reporter of their own street: record the traditions and scenery that quietly disappear, and share your town with the world, auto-translated across 11 languages. It's privacy-first (GDPR/PIPA compliant, one-tap data export) and, unlike a follow-based feed, makes the map itself the primary way to discover what's happening nearby.
