Lumi Language is a personalized language learning app that you tell your goal and it will generate many lessons for you to accomplish it. This is effective for people who are moving to new countries and need to know unique phrases to get along.

Hi, I am Elliot Ma and I decided to begin this project for fun. As time went on, I wanted to go further with it. LumiLanguage is a language learning app designed not to build fluency but to help people who need to know specific phrases in one or more languages. For example, Duolingo or Babbel may teach you "the cat drinks milk" while LumiLanguage would get your goal and create specific lessons to help you. Instead of learning useless phrases, you will know things that you actually will use. Thanks, and I would love advice/feedback.
I'm building an ESL writing tool, so a goal-driven approach beats a generic curriculum — my users don't want full fluency, they want to survive next Monday's meeting. One question about pronunciation help: does it score the learner's own audio, or is it just TTS playback? Without feedback on my pronunciation, it's listening practice, not speaking practice. Also: what happens after a goal is finished — is there spaced repetition of the material that was generated, or does each new goal start from scratch?
This hits a massive pain point for expats and travelers who don't need a 500-day Duolingo streak just to figure out how to register their address at the local Bürgeramt or order specific regional items. Letting people input a hyper-specific real-world goal and instantly generating bespoke lessons with context-aware chat and pronunciation help is brilliant. The fact that it's free makes it an absolute no-brainer for anyone relocating.
Goal-first rather than curriculum-first makes sense for people relocating. Curious how you handle register though. The phrasing someone needs at a government office and the phrasing they need with neighbours are pretty different, and using the wrong one is more awkward than not knowing the phrase. Does the lesson generation account for that?
LumiLanguage Your product has strong potential, but I found a few key improvements that could make it even better. I'd love to share my feedback and suggestions—please contact me at [email protected].
