Combining HTTP checks with cron heartbeats is useful because background failures often stay invisible while a homepage still returns 200. For small teams, a clear incident timeline that groups related endpoint, SSL, and DNS alerts would make triage faster and reduce alert fatigue when one upstream failure causes several monitors to fire.
