I needed this to explain to my brother how everything worked. Helped out a lot. Hes a visual guy.

I built this after watching a family therapist redraw the same genogram by hand for every new case. The drawing is the easy part - what nobody supports well is the emotional layer, the close/conflicted/cut-off lines that carry the actual clinical meaning. So that layer is first-class here, and the export is a clean PDF you can drop straight into case notes. Free to build; you only pay if you need Pro. Would genuinely like to hear from clinicians where the notation falls short.

What stands out to me is the decision to follow standard McGoldrick notation rather than turning this into a generic family-tree tool. That makes the output much more useful when it needs to be understood by another clinician, not just the person who created it. One feature I’d be curious about is export/interoperability: can users export a genogram in a format that can be attached to a case record or reopened later without losing relationship metadata? If that workflow is smooth, this feels much closer to a professional tool than a diagram builder.

Making the emotional relationship layer first-class is the right product decision; that is where a clinical genogram differs from a normal family tree. Following McGoldrick notation also makes exports useful across practitioners. Have you considered a privacy mode that hides names while preserving the structure for supervision or teaching?
