Dim0

Open source AI canvas for visual thinking and research

Visit

Your research is in the browser. Your notes are in Notion. Your diagrams are in Excalidraw. Your AI is in a chat box. Dim0 puts everything on one canvas.

Dim0 is an open source thinking canvas where the AI agent reads your board, searches the web, and writes results directly as nodes — not in a chat box. No copy-paste, no tab switching.

Features

- Rich-text notes with markdown, math, toggles, slash commands and sub-pages

- Hand-drawn shapes and diagrams like Excalidraw

- Live code execution inside canvas nodes

- HTML widgets — charts, visual explainers, interactive dashboards on the board

- AI agent that reads your canvas and builds results directly as nodes

- Nested boards for hierarchical organization

- Presentation mode — present directly from the canvas

- Semantic search across all nodes

- 12 beautiful themes

- MIT licensed, self-hostable, works with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek and more

Use Cases

- Researching and visualizing complex topics — ask AI, get a mind map on the board

- Learning difficult concepts visually with AI-generated explainers

- Technical documentation combining code, diagrams and rich notes

- Knowledge management and personal note-taking

- Building and presenting ideas without switching tools

- Self-hosting your own private thinking canvas

Cool! What models are used?

great idea, definitely something missing in the market

Hey Fazier! I'm Quang, solo dev from Paris. I built Dim0 because I was tired of switching between Notion, Excalidraw and ChatGPT just to think through one idea. Everything scattered, nothing connected. The part I'm most excited about: the AI agent doesn't answer in a chat box - it reads your canvas and writes results directly as nodes on your board. Your research becomes a living visual map you keep building on. It's MIT licensed and self-hostable - your data stays yours. Would love your honest feedback!

I think the idea is pretty cool

Tech, AI, Bitcoin, RSI. My own opinions.

The canvas-first approach is compelling because research, notes, diagrams, and AI output usually live in separate tools. Having the AI read the board and write results directly as nodes feels much more useful than another linear chat interface. The open-source and self-hostable angle is also smart for people who care about data ownership. How are you thinking about collaboration features for teams?

The "AI writes results as nodes, not in a chat box" framing is the most interesting part of this. Chat interfaces force linear thinking — a canvas doesn't. Open source is a smart call too, this is exactly the kind of tool that benefits from community-built node types. What's the current limit on board size or node count?

How do you handle persistent state across canvases? For long-running research projects I lose track of which threads I've already explored - does the AI agent remember context across sessions, or does each new canvas start fresh?
