Many cosmetic packages do not show a readable production date. Instead, manufacturers print a short lot number somewhere on the container or box. Users can choose the relevant brand, enter that code and receive an estimated production period together with guidance specific to the manufacturer.
The service also helps users locate the correct marking and avoid confusing it with a barcode, shade number, product reference or serial number. It is available across web and mobile, with support for a wide range of international beauty brands.

This project began with a drawer full of skincare products whose purchase dates I could no longer remember. Most of them had no obvious date—only tiny combinations of letters and numbers that were surprisingly difficult to interpret. I built Cosmetic Batch Check to make that research less frustrating. It now combines manufacturer-specific rules, packaging guidance and a growing brand database in one place. There is still a lot to improve, especially because companies sometimes change their coding systems without notice. Reports from users have been extremely useful, so please share any brand or format that does not work as expected.
