ButterShare allows you to share files of any size directly between devices without the need for cloud storage or sign-ups. With a simple 3-step process, you can send files instantly using a 6-character room code. The service ensures privacy with end-to-end encryption, making it ideal for sharing large files securely.

Features

  • Unlimited File Size — Send large files and folders without application-level size limits.
  • Direct P2P Transfers — Files move directly between devices using WebRTC instead of being uploaded to cloud storage.
  • No Signup Required — Start sharing instantly without creating an account.
  • End-to-End Encryption — Transfers are encrypted so files stay private between sender and receiver.
  • Shareable Links & QR Codes — Create a transfer link or scan a QR code to connect another device quickly.
  • Cross-Platform — Works directly in the browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iPhone.
  • Folder Sharing — Send complete folders while preserving their structure.
  • No Cloud Storage — ButterShare does not permanently store the files you transfer.
  • Real-Time Transfer Progress — See transfer speed, progress, and connection status while files are being sent.
  • Free to Use — Core peer-to-peer file sharing is available without paying or installing an app.

For Fazier, I’d keep the strongest 6–8 features rather than stuffing the section. The first eight above are the best ones.

Use Cases

  • Send large files to clients without uploading them to cloud storage.
  • Transfer files between your own devices such as Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, or Linux.
  • Share videos and raw media files that are too large for email or messaging apps.
  • Send project folders to teammates while keeping the folder structure intact.
  • Move sensitive files privately using direct encrypted peer-to-peer transfer.
  • Share files instantly with a link or QR code without requiring the recipient to create an account.
  • Transfer large design, development, or creative assets without worrying about upload limits.
  • Send one-time files quickly when you do not want them stored permanently in the cloud.

Hey Fazier 👋 I’m Anirban, the developer behind ButterShare. I built ButterShare because sending a large file still feels more complicated than it should. Most file-sharing services either limit file size, require an account, upload everything to the cloud, or put the useful features behind a paid plan. I wanted something simpler: choose your files, create a link, and send them directly to another device. ButterShare uses peer-to-peer WebRTC connections, so files are transferred directly between devices instead of being permanently uploaded and stored on ButterShare. There’s no signup, no application-level file size limit, and transfers are encrypted. You can also share through a link or QR code, making it useful for transferring files between your own devices or sending large videos, folders, project files, and other files to someone else. I’m still actively building it, so I’d genuinely love feedback from the Fazier community. What’s the biggest frustration you currently have when sending large files online? And what feature would make you switch from the tool you use today?
