Find broken links before your visitors do

Brokenlink is an automated broken link checker that monitors every URL you care about around the clock and alerts you by email or Slack the moment one dies — so a broken link never sits unnoticed for days, weeks, or months. A free one-off link checker only tells you about today. Brokenlink re-checks continuously, tracks each link's status history, and reports the exact URL and status code the moment something breaks. Set it up once and never check a link by hand again.

Hey everyone, we are very excited to launch Brokenlink.io! We built a tool that monitors all your links 24/7 and alerts you the moment something breaks. We hope you like it!

Continuous re-checking with status history is a useful step up from one-off crawlers. How do you handle sites that block bots or rate-limit requests, so they don't show up as false 'broken' alerts?

The 24/7 monitoring angle is the right one — one-off crawlers catch a broken link weeks after Google has already seen it. For SEO work the detail I care about is redirect chains: a link that quietly went 301 to 301 to 404 still looks fine to a naive checker. Does the status history show each hop, and can alerts be grouped by site so a hosting outage does not fire fifty separate emails?

Running a URL shortener, dead destinations are a real worry for me, so this caught my eye. One thing I noticed: the page says it monitors around the clock, but the Hobby plan lists daily checks. Is a faster check interval something you'd offer on higher tiers? Being able to import from a sitemap is a nice touch.

The status history per link is the part I'd value most. When a page goes from 200 to a redirect to a 404, it would help to see exactly when each change happened. Do you let people set a retry or grace period before an alert fires, to cut down on one-off timeouts?

Monitoring beats a one-off crawl for sure. Most of my dead links show up weeks after launch, once some docs page or partner site gets moved around. Curious if you split internal and outbound links in the alerts? An internal 404 is "fix it now," but a dead outbound link in an old blog post can wait for a weekly digest. Being able to send those to different Slack channels would keep the noise down.
