Billion Dollar Homepage

Where brands outbid each other for a piece of the internet.

Visit

Billion Dollar Homepage is a modern reboot of the original Million Dollar Homepage, rebuilt as a live bidding marketplace.

Instead of buying pixels once and owning them forever, brands can outbid each other for space on a 1,000 x 1,000 pixel homepage.

Prices start at $1 per pixel, with a minimum 10 x 10 block. To take over an existing space, you simply bid 5% more than the current value.

Every purchase is public, every takeover is visible, and the homepage evolves as brands compete for attention.

It combines nostalgia, advertising, competition, scarcity and a little internet absurdity into one very public experiment.

I built Billion Dollar Homepage because I’ve always loved simple internet ideas that sound slightly ridiculous, but have a mechanic underneath them that just works. The original Million Dollar Homepage had scarcity, visibility and a fixed piece of internet real estate. I wanted to see what happens if you take that idea and add competition. So this version is alive. You can buy a block of pixels, add your image and URL, and keep the space until someone decides it’s worth 5% more. Then they take it. Every purchase is public, every takeover changes the homepage, and over time the grid should become a strange little record of brands competing for attention. I have no idea what the homepage will look like a month from now, which is half the fun. Would love to hear what you think, especially whether you’d buy a block, outbid someone else, or just watch the chaos unfold.
