I built Battery Beggar because the standard MacBook battery indicator is easy to ignore ... and is boring. I wanted something that would make me notice the battery before it hit 2%, so I gave it a personality. It now has five personality packs, spoken reactions, and Percy, the anxious mascot, as an optional voice pack. The app is free, runs fully on your Mac, and collects no data. I’d genuinely like feedback on what personality, voice, or feature should come next.

The privacy claim is the part I would want nailed down, because "works fully offline, collects no data" is easy to write and hard to check from the outside. Is there anything a user can verify themselves, an open source core, or simply the app shipping with no network entitlement at all? "Makes no outbound connection" is a stronger and far more verifiable promise than "we do not collect data", and for an app whose whole pitch is that it is harmless, it seems worth claiming the stronger one. Which raises the one tension I could not resolve from the page: the $2.99 Percy voice pack has to be bought and unlocked somehow. How does that work without the app ever talking to a server, and does the receipt check happen once or on every launch?
