I got tired of photo-to-anime tools that either (a) just slap a filter on your face, or (b) force you to write a paragraph of prompt before anything happens.
So I built AnimePhotoGen: upload a photo, pick a style, get a redrawn anime image.
https://animephotogen.com/
What it does:
- 9 presets (Ghibli-ish, manga, chibi, cyberpunk, classic 90s, watercolor, pixel, neon, shonen)
- No prompt required for the default path (optional text if you want to nudge outfit/mood)
- Free daily credits, no account needed to try
- Runs in the browser on phone or desktop
Stack notes if useful: Next.js frontend, Replicate for image gen (currently GPT Image 2 for the photo→anime pass), credits billed only on successful generations.
Not trying to be Midjourney. The goal is the narrow case: “I have a photo, I want it as anime PFP / gift art in under a minute.”
Would love feedback on:
1) which style presets feel off / missing
2) likeness vs style tradeoff (too faithful vs too anime)
3) anything broken on mobile
Happy to answer technical questions too.
9 presets (manga / Ghibli-ish / chibi / cyberpunk / classic 90s / etc.), optional prompt only if you want to tweak mood or outfit, free daily credits to try.
This hits the sweet spot. I'm tired of filter apps that just slap on makeup or prompt tools that turn into a second job. Nine presets with optional tweaks is exactly the right balance—get the likeness right first, then let me adjust if I want. Free daily credits to try seals it. Bookmarked.
