**Scanning is free, and always will be.** RefreshYourMac measures 44 categories on your own Mac,
rates every one for what cleaning it would cost you, and lists exactly what it found — before you
pay anything, and before a single file is deleted. What a licence buys is the ability to act on
it: cleaning, uninstalling, moving files, and the maintenance tasks.
**Every category carries a rating, and the rating decides what the buttons may do.**
**Safe to Remove** — regenerates on its own. Nothing of value is lost.
**Review** — costs a rebuild, a re-download or an app restart. Worth a look first.
**Move to Backup** — your data. There is no bulk clean at all: you pick items one at a time.
**Protected** — cannot be deleted here. The app shows you what to do instead.
**Or never think about it again.** Set a time and it cleans the safe categories on its own, or
whenever free space drops below a level you choose. Only Safe to Remove is ever taken
automatically — never your files, never anything needing your password, and never the Trash, which
is the undo for everything else. Every run is written to the history.
**It lives in the menu bar.** The icon turns orange as the disk fills and red when it is nearly
gone, so you find out before a build fails rather than after.
### Two things it will not do
Most cleaners ship a memory purge and a malware scanner. This one refuses both, and shows you the
measurement instead of the button:
**Memory purge.** Emptying the disk cache makes the free-memory number jump, and macOS reads the
cache straight back. The app shows how much is genuinely spare, how much would be re-read, and
what the compressor is holding — then offers the only thing that returns memory, which is
quitting an app.
**Malware scan.** A scanner is only as good as the threat feed behind it, and a feed costs money
every month for as long as the app exists. A one-time price cannot fund one, and a scanner whose
definitions quietly stop updating is worse than none. The app reports XProtect's real signature
version and Gatekeeper's state, read from your Mac.
### What you get
- A licence key for **RefreshYourMac**, usable on up to **3 Macs**.
- **One payment.** No subscription, no second year, no account, no upsell.
- **Measures before it deletes:** a free scan lists what was found, how big it is and what put it
there, before any licence is needed.
- **44 categories:** caches, logs, developer and AI tool leftovers, duplicates, large files,
unused apps.
- **Four safety levels:** every category is rated Safe to Remove, Review, Move to Backup or
Protected, and the rating decides what the buttons may do.
- **Nothing deleted without asking:** no silent clean, ever.
- **Move to Backup, not delete:** your own data is offered a destination rather than a bin.
- **Protected means protected:** the app refuses and explains what to do instead.
- **Scheduled daily cleaning:** Safe to Remove categories only. Never your files, never anything
needing your password, never the Trash.
- **Menu bar access:** the panel is one click away without opening the full window.
- **Developer and AI tool leftovers:** Xcode DerivedData, old simulator runtimes, iOS device
support, package manager caches, and the scratch folders and histories left by AI coding tools.
- **Honest memory panel:** shows how much memory is genuinely spare instead of purging it.
- **Honest security panel:** reports XProtect's real signature version and Gatekeeper's state,
read from your Mac. It is not an antivirus and does not claim to be.
- **Maintenance tasks:** the periodic jobs macOS expects, run on request.
- **No account:** no registration, no email address, no sign-in.
- **No telemetry:** nothing about your Mac's contents leaves it.
- **Notarised by Apple:** a direct download that opens without a Gatekeeper warning.
- **One payment:** €39.99 once, or €19.99 a year. Scanning never needs either.
